Huntington Court Happy to be a Part of Reunion

February 6, 2020
Hamilton, Ohio - This Huntington Court story is going to give you that warm fuzzy feeling and exemplifies our "Culture of Care"! This is the real-life mystery we promised to tell you all about. First, meet the individuals" Jeann, a resident of Huntington Court that has been a part of our family since 2014, our social worker, and three loving nieces. Through a series of life events, family moving, new phone numbers Jeann lost contact with her family she was so close to. Unfortunately, all of this happened right at the time Jeann was hospitalized and unable to reach out to family and let them know. Her nieces were calling all the hospitals, but due to privacy rules, none of the hospitals would say if she was there or not. She was unable to return home and came straight to Huntington Court. Once she was physically able to tell us about her family, phone numbers had been lost as well as addresses. Our social worker spent countless hours trying to track down the family. The only name Jeann could give us was a Dr. we called every Dr. with that last name and kept turning up empty-handed.

Over the years, any time a new lead would turn up, we followed up but still didn't work out. Over time Jeann created her own family and friends at Huntington Court but still hoped we would find her family. Recently her health took another decline and our Social Worker got back on the hunt to make this wish come true. Finally, through nothing short of divine intervention and all the right people being together in the right place at the right time, we found new hope! Jeann had signed on with hospice, that nurse was at Huntington visiting one day while we had nursing students from Miami. Our Social Worker was discussing the family dynamics with her nurse and the student. The student said, I know that Dr. but it's not a medical Dr. it's a professor at Miami. While this was going on at Huntington, Jeann's two nieces were simultaneously talking on the phone and one had stated to the other Aunt Jeann has really been on my heart lately. They also had never stopped looking. At that time she told her sister, "I gotta go I just got a Facebook message that I wouldn't normally open but, this last name is someone I work with so I need to check it."

That last name was not the co-worker she was thinking but, in fact, our social worker; "Hi there, you don't know me, but I work at a nursing facility and I believe we have a loved here that has been looking for you, please call me." Sure enough, we finally found the right doctor, Jeann's niece!! Within hours all three nieces were at Huntington Court for a tear-filled reunion, not just by them but the staff as well! Definitely one of our most heartwarming success yet! She now has family here every day to visit and reminisce! In the pictures are Jeann with her nieces, our Social worker that never gave up, and the beautiful flowers Jeann's family sent to Jeann and our Social Worker for all their appreciation!
